A DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEMS ANALYSIS APPROACH TO DEFINING THE THREAT, MISSION, AND SYSTEM CONSTRAINTS IN THE PLANNING AND DESIGNING OF NUCLEAR PLANT SECURITY.
Abstract
PRINCIPLE STEPS IN THE EVOLUTION OF A SECURITY SYSTEM USING SYSTEMS ANALYSIS ARE THREAT DEFINITION, MISSION DEFINITION, SYSTEM CONSTRAINTS, SPECIFICATION DEVELOPMENT, SYSTEM DESIGN, PROTOTYPE, PRODUCTION, INSTALLATION, CHECK-OUT AND TRAINING, AND OPERATIONAL DESIGN IMPROVEMENT. ONCE THE PROJECT MANAGER HAS AGREED TO THE FUNDAMENTAL SECURITY SYSTEM DEFINITION, THE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM BEGINS. PRELIMINARY CONFIGURATIONS ARE ESTABLISHED, TESTED CONCEPTUALLY, AND REJECTED UNTIL THE ITERATIVE PROCESS PROVIDES CANDIDATE SYSTEMS WHICH APPEAR TO BE FEASIBLE. THE AUTHOR ALSO STATES THAT SYSTEM ENGINEERING IS MOST EFFECTIVE IF THE SECURITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER IS A MEMBER OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGN TEAM.
