This report reviews past and current trends and offers proposals related to the improvement of the clearinghouse functions of the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice program.
          Abstract
The primary goal of the report is to provide the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, in pursuance of its resolution 3/3, a platform for the enhancement of the clearing- house functions of the program, thus facilitating the global interchange of ideas; official documents; working papers; statistical data; statutes; and any other materials relevant to government officials, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers involved in crime prevention and criminal justice. The improvement of the information exchange and clearing-house functions of the United Nations crime prevention and criminal justice program was based on a three-pronged strategy that involved a system for the electronic exchange of information, computerization of criminal justice administration, and the collection and dissemination of criminal justice data and information. Sections of this report review activities related to past developments and explore possible directions for future action.
