Abstract
The first chapter of the manual describes the scope of the teen dating violence problem. The emphasis is on agency and domestic violence coalition recognition of and response to the problem, risk of involvement in teen dating violence, how reports of teen dating violence are tracked through the criminal justice system, school policies on teen dating violence and victim safety, and battered women's programs. The second chapter recounts teen experiences with dating violence, based on the findings of nearly 600 surveys completed by teens. The chapter indicates understanding the ways in which teens define and interpret their experiences with dating violence is a critical first step in developing effective education and intervention programs. The third chapter identifies and programs and resources to help communities address teen dating violence. The fourth chapter offers practical tools, strategies, and options for individuals and agencies involved in responding to teen dating violence. References, figures, and photographs
