Abstract
THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES A NUMBER OF MANIFESTATIONS OF TERRORISM INCLUDING HOSTAGE TAKING, KIDNAPPING, AND AIRCRAFT HIJACKING. THESE FORMS OF TERRORISM RESULT FROM POLITICAL AS WELL AS OTHER MOTIVES. WHERE POLITICAL GOALS ARE PURSUED TERRORIST ACTIONS USUALLY AIM AT PUBLICITY. THE SECOND PART OF THE ARTICLE ANALYZES THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF TERRORISM.
