Abstract
RESEARCH ABSTRACTS INCLUDE A SYNOPSIS OF OFFENDERS RECEIVING THE DEATH SENTENCE IN TEXAS, A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF FIRST OFFENDERS AND RECIDIVISTS, STATISTICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF HABITUAL OFFENDERS AND RECIDIVISTS, AND A PROPOSAL FOR MODIFICATION OF DIAGNOSTIC PROCESSING AND MEDICAL FACILITIES FOR FEMALE OFFENDERS. THIS PROGRESS REPORT ALSO CONTAINS FACTORS RELATING TO PAROLE CONSIDERATIONS AND RECIDIVISTS, A FORM SURVEY OF INMATE RECORDS, AND A STUDY OF THE DRUG PUSHER AND USER. A PLANNING SECTION ON REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES IS INCLUDED. DURING THE YEAR 1972 GRANTS WERE AWARDED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OR RENOVATION OF FACILITIES, STAFFING AND PERSONNEL TRAINING, A DRUG INFORMATION PROGRAM, AN INMATE TRACKING INFORMATION SYSTEM, AND LEGAL RESOURCES FOR INMATES.
