Abstract
THE ORGANIZATION OF TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT IN THE PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS EXPLAINED. SOME GENERAL PRINCIPLES AND GUIDELINES FOR ENFORCING THE TRAFFIC CODE ARE GIVEN. SPECIFIC SITUATIONS ARE DISCUSSED ALONG WITH SUGGESTIONS FOR THEIR MOST EFFECTIVE HANDLING. SITUATIONS COVERED INCLUDE CONFRONTING MOVING TRAFFIC VIOLATORS, CONDUCTING LICENSE CHECKS, ENFORCING PARKING RESTRICTIONS, APPEARING IN TRAFFIC COURT, CITING NONRESIDENT MOTORISTS, AND REPORTING AND INVESTIGATING ACCIDENTS.
