DESCRIPTION OF A NEW HAVEN POLICE DEPARTMENT PROGRAM WHICH EMPLOYS TAPED SPOT TRAINING MESSAGES THAT ARE BROADCAST TO POLICE CARS ON REGULAR FREQUENCIES WHILE ON PATROL.
Abstract
THESE TRAINING MESSAGES ARE INTENDED TO SERVE AS A DAY-TO-DAY REMINDER OF THE NEED FOR VIGILANCE AND CAUTION IN POLICE WORK, AND AS AN EXTENSION OF THE INSERVICE TRAINING PROGRAMS CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT. EACH MESSAGE RUNS BETWEEN 25 AND 35 SECONDS AND IS PLACED ON THE RADIO BY DISPATCHERS DURING INACTIVE PERIODS. TWO SAMPLE MESSAGES ARE INCLUDED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN WELL RECEIVED BY DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL.
