This article describes the design and use of a mobile training trailer for use as a police shooting range.
Law enforcement agencies around the country are opting to invest in mobile training trailers to use as shooting ranges. The article begins by explaining the design and construction of mobile training trailers and then discusses their benefits. Aspects of the body design of the trailers are offered, including a description of the armor plated and insulated interior walls, ceiling, and floors. Details about the filtration system are provided and the author notes that the filtration system was designed to comply with all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The climate control and the target system are explained before the author describes how different departments are utilizing their mobile training trailers. The mobile training trailers have helped save overtime and travel costs by bringing the range to the officers instead of vice versa. It has also saved smaller departments money since many small departments can buy a mobile training trailer together and transport it to different locations. The many benefits of owning a mobile training trailer are explored and include the ability to have a shooting range at practically any location, which results in cost savings. Exhibits
