Abstract
THE AUTHOR IDENTIFIES CERTAIN CORRECTIONAL PRACTICES THAT ARE SIMILAR IN THE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, AND ANALYZES THEIR INFLUENCE ON PROPOSED CORRECTIONAL REFORMS. THE ESSENTIALS OF THE BRITISH, DANISH, AND SOVIET APPROACHES TO THE TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF THE YOUTHFUL OFFENDER ARE SUMMARIZED. EUROPEAN PRINCIPLES WHICH HAVE SIGNIFICANCE FOR AMERICAN CORRECTIONAL PLANNERS ARE ARE OUTLINED.
