Data from 66 countries address juvenile delinquency trends in the countries from 1982 to 1985.
Abstract
The information provided in this report was prompted by a questionnaire sent to countries throughout the world by the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). It solicited three types of data. First, the countries were asked for statistics on juvenile delinquency and, if relevant, on antisocial behavior for the country as a whole. The questionnaire provided forms for 1982-1985 statistics. Second, the questionnaire asked for commentaries on trends in juvenile delinquency and antisocial behavior during the period under consideration. Third, the questionnaire requested descriptions of any new methods and structures introduced, particularly within police forces, and of any new legislation adopted on this subject between 1982 and 1985. This report provides the aforementioned information for the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Benin, Bermuda, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote D'Ivoire, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Fiji, Finland, France, Gabon, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Lebanon, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Senegal, Seychelles, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, Togo, Turkey, United States, and Zambia.
