          Abstract
The first chapter looks at the concept of harm and its causes, demographic characteristics of persons most frequently victimized by violent crimes, and causal factors that contribute to victimization. Subsequent chapters deal with visible and hidden dangers of the victim movement, stranger homicides in nine U.S. cities, homicides involving children and youth, the psychological impact of rape, rape law reform, domestic violence, property crime victims, and fraud victimization. The final chapters examine victim assistance, victim perceptions of criminal justice, victim impact statements, and restorative justice. References, notes, tables, and figures
