AN ATTEMPT TO FORM A COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM OF COLLECTION, STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL OF PROBATION INFORMATION BASED ON A UNIFORM DATA-GATHERING APPROACH.
Abstract
TWENTY-TWO OF THE PROBATION AGENCIES REPRESENTED AT THE FIRST THREE OF THESE SEMINARS CONTRIBUTED INFORMATION ON 2,228 ADULT PROBATIONERS. THESE CITY, COUNTY AND STATE PROBATION JURISDICTIONS, FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF THE NATION, FORWARDED THEIR DATA TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY RESEARCH CENTER WHERE STATISTICAL ANALYSES WERE PERFORMED AND THE RESULTS WERE INTERPRETED. THIS JOINT EFFORT BY PROBATION PRACTITIONERS AND RESEARCH PERSONNEL DEMONSTRATES THAT UNIFORM DATA CAN BE COLLECTED SIMULTANEOUSLY FROM A NUMBER OF PROBATION AGENCIES AND THAT INFORMATION USEFUL TO THE FIELD CAN BE GENERATED FROM THESE DATA (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
