Abstract
Activities during 1999 related to policy formulation, executive direction and management, financial administration and program support, documentation and related services, collaboration with the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program and with international organizations, and research. The main principles that will guide the management of the Institute for the next biennium are extensions of activities involving international institutions and individuals; extended cooperation with member countries and international organizations; a major focus on fundraising; and greater visibility, together with organization and participation in major international events. Research projects will focus on improved crime prevention and crime control policies. Topics will include trafficking in human beings, corruption, organized crime, the Fourth International Crime Victim Survey, crimes against businesses, illegal drug markets, environmental offenses, and issues in individual countries.
