Abstract
THE STUDIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: (1) STATISTICS INDICATIVE OF WORKLOAD AND DECISION TRENDS FOR THE U.S. PAROLE COMMISSION FOR OCTOBER 1974 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1976 (NO INTERPRETATION); (2) A REVISED VERSION OF THE MANUAL USED BY THE COMMISSION IN COMPUTING A PAROLE APPLICANT'S SALIENT FACTOR SCORE (AN ACTUARIAL DEVICE USED AS A DECISIONMAKING AID); (3) A VALIDATION TEST OF THE SALIENT FACTOR SCORE AS A PREDICTIVE DEVICE (WITH THREE DIFFERENT VALIDATION SAMPLES OF FEDERAL RELEASEES); (4) A MANUAL TO FACILITATE APPLICATION OF THE COMMISSION'S PAROLE DECISIONMAKING GUIDELINES; (5) A 6-YEAR FOLLOWUP STUDY OF THE POSTRELEASE ARREST EXPERIENCES OF FEDERAL PRISONERS; (6) COMMISSION WORKLOAD AND DECISION STATISTICS FOR OCTOBER 1974 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1977 (AGAIN WITHOUT INTERPRETATION); (7) A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF CHOICE OF CRITERION MEASURE AND LENGTH OF FOLLOWUP PERIOD ON RATE OF RECIDIVISM REPORTED; AND (8) A MANUAL TO GUIDE THE CODING OF DATA ON COMMISSION DECISIONS.
