Abstract
FOLLOWING COMMENTS ON CONDUCTING A SEARCH FOR INFORMATION IN CRIMINOLOGY, THE AUTHOR DEALS WITH THE SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF CRIMINOLOGY, LISTING BIBLIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL RELATED TO CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORY. A CHAPTER ON THE PSYCHIATRIC ASPECTS OF CRIME DEALS WITH THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF PSYCHIATRY, PSYCHIATRIC VIEWS AND THEORIES REGARDING THE ETIOLOGY OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, OFFENSES AND OFFENDER GROUPS, AND TREATMENT PROGRAMS. AN OUTLINE OF THE FIELDS OF PSYCHOLOGY AND OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORIES, METHODS AND RESULTS IN CRIMINOLOGY IS ALSO PRESENTED. INTRODUCTORY BIBLIOGRAPHIES OF ALCOHOLISM AND CRIME AND DRUG DEPENDENCE ARE INCLUDED. THE AUTHOR INCLUDES A SAMPLING OF SOME OF THE RELEVANT MATERIAL ON THE TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS, CONCENTRATING ON ENGLAND WITH REFERENCES TO SCOTTISH LITERATURE. OTHER TOPICS FOR WHICH BIBLIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL IS PRESENTED INCLUDE CRIMINAL LAW AND THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE, POLICE LITERATURE, CRIMINAL RELATED STATISTICS, AND THE HISTORY OF PRISONS.
