The Victoria Police Department (Australia) had the lowest recorded road toll in 21 years for the year ended Dec. 31, 1980.
Abstract
A total of 663 people were killed and 20,000 injured. Crime trends rose by about 4 percent during 1980, but showed a decline in the reported incidence of rape, homicide, and serious assaults. Armed robbery, drug offenses, and arson increased, and the predominant offenses continued to be theft and burglary. Information is discussed concerning police operations, crime, traffic, personnel matters, services, and administration. Photographs and 15 tables are supplied, along with an index and appended supplemental material.
