These three articles and a book review focus on the nature, assessment, and treatment of sexual assault trauma, with emphasis on the trauma experienced by rape victims, adults who experienced incest as children, and the child victims of sexual abuse and methods by which women experiencing domestic assault can help themselves.
Abstract
Individual articles focus on the acute medical consequences of rape, changes in the use of medical services as a result of rape, and chronic illnesses that have been linked with rape and issues related to the statute of limitations and adult incest survivors. An additional article, an interview with a mental health professional who testified in the McMartin child sexual abuse case, focuses on the stresses involved in being an expert witness in such a case. The review of the book, "When Love Goes Wrong," presents excerpts of checklists intended for use by women involved in abusive relationships. Reference lists
