Abstract
Virginia Community Policing Institute (VCPI) provides training and technical assistance for Virginia’s law enforcement officials and communities that help build integrated, proactive approaches to community policing initiatives. VCPI is a partnership coalition consisting of the Department of Criminal Justice Services, Virginia’s Sheriff’s Association, Virginia’s Association of Chiefs of Police, the Virginia Crime Prevention Association, the Richmond Police Department, and Virginia Union University. The Virginia Community Policing Institute was established in 1997 with an award from the U.S. Department of Justice, COPS office. The award was granted in order to provide community-policing training to Virginia’s law enforcement officers, citizens (including youth), and public officials at no cost to them. The booklet contains information on the VCPI staff, the location of VCPI courses, a profile of Virginia law enforcement, a VCPI student profile, a training needs survey, and funding partners.
