VOLUNTEER PROBATION AND PAROLE SERVICES ORIGINATED WITH BAR ASSOCIATION PROGRAMS WHICH RESULTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF VOLUNTEERS WORKING WITHIN STATE CORRECTIONAL OPERATIONS.
Abstract
THE VOLUNTEER PAROLE AID PROGRAM EXPANDED TO INCLUDE CITIZENS OUTSIDE THE LEGAL PROFESSION IN THE NEW VOLUNTEERS IN CORRECTIONS PROGRAM. A TREND HAS NOW DEVELOPED TOWARDS UTILIZING LOCAL CO-SPONSORS FOR CORRECTIONAL VOLUNTEER PROJECTS. THIS PERMITS CONCENTRATION ON LOCAL NEEDS AND LOCAL PROBLEMS, WHILE STATE-WIDE COORDINATION IS PROVIDED THROUGH THE STATE AND REGIONAL COORDINATORS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
