This book contains 642 entries covering legal, political, social, economic, and environmental aspects of the international drug trade and the war on drugs.
Abstract
The volume begins with an introduction putting the international drug trade and the War on Drugs in historical perspective and follows with a chronology of key historical events covered in the encyclopedia. Entries, many of them illustrated, are arranged alphabetically and cover key historical events, major laws, significant terms, drugs trafficked, major organizations involved in drug trafficking and combating drug abuse, smuggling and antismuggling strategies, drug epidemics, famous incidents and important persons involved in the drug trade or the drug issue. “See also” references provide access to entries of related interest and sources for further reading. Citations are provided for sources quoted within entries. The book also lists 90 select websites that lead to Internet sources of information about the War on Drugs.
