Abstract
THIS NEW UNIT INCORPORATES DIAGNOSTIC AND RESOURCE PLANNING SERVICES IN THE PRESENTENCE PROCESS IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH ITS TWO MAJOR OBJECTIVES: AN INCREASE IN THE DEGREE OF SUCCESS FOR OFFENDERS SERVED AND PLACED ON PROBATION BY THE SUPERIOR COURT, AND AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CONVICTED FELONS ANO WHO RETAINED IN THE COMMUNITY WITHOUT INCREASING THE RISK TO THE COMMUNITY. THIS UNIT PROVIDES THE SUPERIOR COURT WITH DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS AND RESOURCE PLANS FOR ALL OFFENDERS WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. THE STAFF INCLUDES NOT ONLY A PROJECT SUPERVISOR AND PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATORS, BUT TWO COMMUNITY RESOURCE SPECIALISTS, A RESEARCH ANALYST, TWO CONSULTING PSYCHIATRISTS AND A CONSULTING PSYCHOLOGIST. THE PROCEDURES FOR INVESTIGATIONS ARE OUTLINED, AND THE FORMS USED ARE LISTED.
