During the year, the Waterfront Commission of the New York Harbor participated in an extensive investigation by the Federal Government into waterfront corruption. The Commission furnished the results of several investigations and other information about illegal waterfront activities to Federal prosecutors in New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
Abstract
The Commission investigated criminal elements in waterfront unions and successfully banned convicted union officials from any waterfront activities, after prolonged litigation. It investigated stevedore violations, workers' compensation fraud, thefts, and licensing violations. Data on personnel, budget, and Commission activities are given.
