VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THE WELFARE FRAUD DIVISION ARE DESCRIBED, INCLUDING DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIVISION, INVESTIGATIVE PROCEDURES, COOPERATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES, AND DIVISION ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
Abstract
THE WELFARE FRAUD INVESTIGATION DIVISION IS STAFFED BY TEN MEN. PERSONNEL OF THE DIVISION PERFORM ALL INVESTIGATORY FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING INTERVIEWING DOCTORS, WITNESSES, EMPLOYERS, POSTAL WORKERS, AND SO ON. THE AGENCY INTERACTS WITH SUCH OTHER AGENCIES AS THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT, FEDERAL AGENCIES, STATE AGENCIES, LOCAL AND CIVIC GROUPS, AND THE PRESS. IT IS NOTED THAT THE EFFORTS OF THE DIVISION AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY IN PROSECUTING WELFARE FRAUD HAVE RESULTED IN A 380 PERCENT INCREASE IN CONVICTION FOR THE FIRST SEVEN MONTHS OF 1976 OVER THE SAME TIME PERIOD IN 1975....DMC
