Abstract
AMONG THE PROCEDURES DESCRIBED ARE ARREST OF THE JUVENILE, NOTIFICATION OF THE PARENTS, RELEASE FROM PRETRIAL CUSTODY, THE PRELIMINARY HEARING, THE DETENTION HEARING, THE ADJUDICATORY HEARING, AND THE DISPOSITIONAL HEARING. ALSO EXAMINED ARE PROCEDURES INVOLVED IN RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COURT, APPEALS OF JUVENILE COURT DECISIONS, AND THE SEALING OF JUVENILE COURT RECORDS. FINALLY, THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE EXPECTED TIME LIMITS IN JUVENILE COURT, DEFINES THE JUVENILE COURT JURISDICTION, AND EXAMINES THE QUESTION OF ADULT LEGAL LIABILITY FOR THE JUVENILE'S ACTS.
