Abstract
THIS BOOK IS ORGANIZED TO EXPLORE THE VARIOUS MAJOR PROBLEM AREAS IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE. IT LOOKS AT THE ROLE OF LAWYERS AND JUDGES, THE STATUS OF THE POOR IN THE COURTS, SOCIETY'S ATTEMPTS TO DEAL WITH CRIME AND THE CORRECTION OF OFFENDERS, AND THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE COURTS TO JUVENILE PROBLEMS, TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND TO SUCH SUBSTANTIVE AREAS OF LEGAL DISPUTE AS AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENTS AND BUSINESS AFFAIRS. ONE CHAPTER DISCUSSES THE UNFULFILLED ROLE OF THE MEDIA IN ACHIEVING A BETTER SYSTEM OF JUSTICE IN AMERICA. A FINAL ONE ATTEMPTS AN OVERVIEW OF THE TOTAL PROBLEM OF WHY JUSTICE FAILS.
