TRAINING FOR SWISS PRISON PERSONNEL SHOULD BE BASED ON REORIENTING INSTITUTIONAL ROLES AWAY FROM ENFORCNG SECURITY AND ADHERENCE TO REGULATIONS AND TOWARD CONTRIBUTING TO THE GOAL OF RESOCIALIZATION OF INMATES.
Abstract
THE AIM AND CONTENT OF TRAINING PROGRAMS SHOULD REFLECT THE THERAPEUTIC FUNCTION OF CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL WITHIN THE BROAD FRAMEWORK OF CORRECTIONAL REFORM IN SWITZERLAND. THE AUTHOR CRITICIZES A PROPOSED TRAINING PROGRAM FOR CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL WHICH HE ASSERTS WOULD SERVE AS AN 'ALIBI' FOR PRESERVING THE TRADITIONAL BUREAUCRATIC, SECURITY-ORIENTED STRUCTURE OF SWISS CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS. --IN GERMAN
