STATISTICS ORGANIZED AS TO TYPE OF CASE (ADULT OR JUVENILE), TYPE OF PROGRAM (PROBATION OR PAROLE), AND SEX.
Abstract
IN ADDITION TO THESE ITEMS, WHICH ARE COMMON TO ALL TABLES, THE JUVENILE POPULATIONS ARE DIVIDED INTO OVER 18 AND UNDER 18 AGE CATEGORIES. ALL TABLES HAVE A VERTICAL AXIS REPRESENTING POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS, AND A HORIZONTAL AXIS SPECIFYING THE OUTCOME (NUMBER AND PERCENT TERMINATED SUCCESSFULLY). AN ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP WHICH EXISTS BETWEEN VARIOUS PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND THE TYPE OF OUTCOME FOR INDIVIDUALS ON PROBATION OR PAROLE IS PROVIDED. THE DISCUSSION OF DEMOGRAPHIC DATA INCLUDES SUCH FACTORS AS RACE, AGE, MARITAL STATUS, HISTORY OF DRUG USE, DISRUPTIVE USE OF ALCOHOL, RESIDENCE, AND LENGTH OF SUPERVISION. ALSO EXAMINED ARE EMPLOYMENT, INCOME, AND MAINTENANCE LEVEL, GOALS AND SOCIAL IDENTIFICATION. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
