A CONFERENCE REPORT ON THE CURRENT STATE-OF-KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHROMOSOME ANOMALY INDICATES HIGH PREVALENCE RATES FOR PENAL AND MENTAL INSTITUTION INMATES.
Abstract
THIS REPORT LOOKS AT OUTSTANDING GAPS IN KNOWLEDGE RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES FOR MORE MEANINGFUL DATA COMPARISONS, AND MEDICO-LEGAL ISSUES INVOLVED IN RESEARCH. A CONSIDERABLE PORTION OF THE CONFERENCE DISCUSSED INCIDENCE AND PREVALENCE OF THE ABNORMALITY, AND THIS INFORMATION IS TABULATED AND EXPLAINED. THE XYY SOCIAL BEHAVIOR IS COMPARED TO OTHER FORMS. WHILE FURTHER RESEARCH IS NEEDED TO CONFIRM FINDINGS, STUDIES INDICATE THAT PREVALENCE RATES FOR INMATES OF PENAL AND MENTAL INSTITUTIONS ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN IN GENERAL POPULATION. APPENDICES CONTAIN BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON GENETICS AND A GLOSSARY OF SPECIALIZED TERMS.
