Abstract
THE AUTHOR IS AGAINST TEMPORARY DETENTION OF KNOWN OFFENDERS AS A STRONGER NON-CUSTODIAL SENTENCE FOR YOUNG ADULTS. HE RECOMMENDS PERSUADING THE COURTS TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF YOUNG ADULT OFFENDERS GIVEN CUSTODIAL SENTENCES, AND CONSIDERING OTHER FORMS ON NON-CUSTODIAL TREATMENT.
