Led by the U.S. Secretary of Education, the Federal Commission on School Safety is charged with providing meaningful and actionable recommendations to keep students safe at school.

Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program
Administered by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the G.R.E.A.T. Program is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. The program's primary objective is prevention and it is intended to be an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership.

National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE)
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Healthy Students, NCSSLE provides training and technical assistance, products and tools, and latest research findings to create positive learning environments in schools so that all students have the opportunity to realize academic success in safe and supportive environments.

National Institute of Justice (NIJ): School Crime and Safety

National Resource Center on School-Justice Partnerships (NRC-SJP)
With funding from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges created the NRC-SJP to serve as a one-stop-shop for jurisdictions seeking training and technical assistance to support implementation and sustainability of multidisciplinary initiatives to achieve positive school discipline reforms and reduce the school to juvenile justice pathway.

OJJDP provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization.

SchoolSafe App
Developed by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center and available to vetted criminal justice professionals and school administrators, the SchoolSafe app provides for a means to conduct a physical assessment of a school campus (inside and out) to address potential trouble spots.

Funded through a grant from the National Institute of Justice, this site serves as a clearinghouse of information and contacts for law enforcement and other public safety officials to prepare, respond and recover as they work to keep schools as safe as possible.

U.S. Department of Education: Office of Safe and Healthy Students (OSHS)
OSHS provides financial assistance for drug and violence prevention activities, focuses on efforts designed to promote the health and well-being of students, develops policies related to violence and drug prevention in schools, and participates with other agencies on efforts related to violence/drug prevention and school preparedness.
