Since the fall of 2012, students in Ann Arundel County, MD, have been using a free app developed by the county police department to communicate with the department in a more secure and private manner. The app was developed by the department's School Resource Unit to encourage more open information sharing from students by providing them with anonymity to report bullying or other problems to the police. The app, AACo PD Speak Out, is available through the Internet and can be used by anyone.
