DISCUSSES PROBLEMS WITH FALSE ALARMS AND EFFORTS TO CONTROL THEM.
Abstract
THE RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE FALSE ALARMS, FIRST KEEP A RECORD OF ALL FALSE ALARMS. THIS POINTED OUT PROBLEM AREAS WHICH WAS MOSTLY MALFUNCTIONING ALARMS. A LETTER WAS SENT STATING THAT IF THE SYSTEM WAS NOT REPAIRED, NO LONGER WOULD THE POLICE RESPOND TO THAT ALARM. THE DEPARTMENT IS NOW PROPOSING AN ORDINANCE ON ALARM SYSTEMS PERMITTING RENEWAL REFUSALS FOR BAD SYSTEMS AND FINES.
