Compiled by the American Correctional Association (ACA), this directory provides data on State, Federal, and Canadian correctional systems, listing institutions and administrative staff as well as programs, populations, capacities, cost of care, age limits, and personnel counts.
Abstract
Summaries encapsule fiscal, personnel, populations, and related statistics on the adult and juvenile systems as of June 30, 1984. The latter areas include clients on parole/probation/aftercare, correctional institutions under court order, prisoners under death sentence, and historical incarceration rates. Information on correctional facilities in the United States is categorized by States and territories, U.S. Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Parole Commission, Administrative Offices of the U.S. Courts, and military correctional facilities. Each entry provides information on organizational structure, administrative staff, year opened, capacity, average daily population, degree of security, offender type, age limits, costs, accreditation, employees, community-based programs, parole, aftercare, and probation services. A similar format is used for the Canadian data. The directory includes information on the ACA, a list of ACA accredited facilities and programs, and an index.
