Abstract
IN PLANNING FOR EITHER ROUTINE ACTIVITIES OR SPECIAL PROJECTS, DETAILED FORECASTS OF POPULATION NUMBERS, COMPOSITION, AND GEOGRAPHIC PATTERN ARE REQUIRED. FOR EXAMINING CAUSAL RELATIONSHIPS OR EVALUATING THE EFFICACY OF TREATMENTS, LINEAR REGRESSION AND RELATED METHODS ARE USEFUL. OTHER TOPICS DISCUSSED WERE RANDOM SAMPLING AND OTHER FIELD SURVEY TECHNIQUES, AND THE USE OF SECONDARY SOURCES. A WARNING WAS ISSUED AGAINST THE USE OF ANALYTIC TECHNIQUES WHICH ARE TOO SOPHISTICATED TO BE MASTERED BY THE PLANNING STAFF. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...BS
