Abstract
THE INCIDENCE OF THIS FORM OF CRIME INCREASED FROM 11 CASES IN 1970 TO 100 IN 1974. THE AUTHOR ANALYZES AVAILABLE DATA FOR THE YEARS 1972 TO 1974, YIELDING INFORMATION REGARDING THE GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF ARMED ROBBERIES IN BANKS, THE TYPE OF INSTITUTION ROBBED, THE TIME OF THE YEAR, DAY AND HOUR OF THE DAY AND THE NUMBER OF PERSONS INVOLVED IN EACH ROBBERY. HE ALSO DESCRIBES THE OPERATING METHODS MOST FREQUENTLY EMPLOYED IN BANK HOLDUPS AND THE TYPES OF PREVENTION SYSTEMS AVAILABLE. HE PRESENTS THE 1974 SPANISH LEGISLATION REGULATING THE TYPE OF SECURITY REQUIRED IN BANKS AND NOTES THAT THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF ARMED ROBBERIES IN THE YEAR FOLLOWING ENACTMENT OF THE SECURITY LEGISLATION. --IN SPANISH...ELW
