Abstract
UNAFEI WAS FOUNDED IN 1962 FOR THE PURPOSE OF MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE REGION IN THE PREVENTION OF CRIME AND THE TREATMENT OF OFFENDERS, INTERNATIONAL TRAINING COURSES HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTIONAL ADMINISTRATORS, A VARIETY OF JUDICIAL PERSONNEL, AND SPECIALISTS IN CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES. RESEARCH HAS THUS FAR BEEN MAINLY OF A SURVEY TYPE WITH PLANS TO EXPAND THE SCOPE IN COLLABORATION WITH RESEARCH INSTITUTES. AS A REGIONAL DOCUMENTATION CENTER AND CLEARINGHOUSE, UNAFEI PLANS TO EXPAND ITS LIBRARY AND REFERENCE MATERIALS.
