SPECIMENS FROM 85 RANDOMLY SELECTED TYPEWRITERS, BOTH INDIAN AND FOREIGN MADE AS AVAILABLE IN INDIA, WERE CHECKED BY A SUPPLEMENTED INTERPOL SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM WAS SUPPLEMENTED WITH THIRTYFOUR INDEX CARDS, PREPARED ACCORDING TO THE INTERPOL SYSTEM, FOR THE TYPEWRITERS MANUFACTURED IN AND IMPORTED INTO INDIA. A HIGH RATE OF SUCCESSFUL MACHINE IDENTIFICATION WAS ACHIEVED IN CASES WHERE A REASONABLY LENGTHY TYPED TEXT WAS AVAILABLE.
