This booklet describes the activities and responsibilities of the Correctional Service of Canada.
Abstract
The Correctional Service of Canada is responsible for the administration of sentences of 2 years or more. This responsibility includes management of correctional institutions and supervision of offenders who have been conditionally released by the National Parole Board and those on statutory release. All information refers to adult corrections and covers the period from April 1, 1996 to March 31, 1997. Statistics on juvenile corrections, which are primarily the responsibility of the provinces, are not included.
