This English/Spanish dictionary of domestic relations and juvenile terms is a reference to the terminology used in the areas of family law and juvenile justice.
Abstract
The dictionary contains approximately 900 terms written in nontechnical language for use by interpreters, translators, bilingual attorneys, paralegals and court personnel. All relevant US statutory sources in the areas of family and juvenile justice as well as scholarly publications were reviewed as source texts. The United States has the most jurisdictionally complex legal system in the area of family law. The most common terms have been included throughout the text for ease of use. The book contains a user's guide with flow charts that provide an overview of the procedural steps in family law and juvenile justice practice. Each term is followed by a definition. The Spanish equivalent is followed by its own definition. The dictionary includes an index of Spanish terms to facilitate locating English terms if only the Spanish term is known. References, index
