This kit of materials includes facts about youths served by Boys Clubs of America; it includes brochures, government documents, program descriptions, and other materials related to juvenile delinquency prevention and youth development.
Abstract
Individual publications focus on the extent of juvenile detention in adult jails and lockups, alternative approaches to juvenile detention, and approaches that Boys Clubs can use to promote positive youth development. An instructional manual presents guidelines and handouts for a 6-week program of group meetings designed to teach abused adolescents personal and social skills. Descriptions are also provided of model programs that provide alternatives to detention such as probation, community service, and family counseling. Video script, glossary, guidelines on writing letters to members of Congress, and related materials
