The report of the Child Sex Offense Working Group contains a brief description and analysis of U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines on sexual crimes against children.
Abstract
The guidelines focus on offenses involving criminal sexual abuse and assault, statutory rape of a minor, abusive sexual contact, kidnaping, abduction, unlawful restraint, transport of a minor for the purpose of prostitution or prohibited sexual conduct, sexual exploitation of a minor through sexually explicit visual or printed material, selling or buying children for pornography, and receipt or possession of material depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. In reviewing and analyzing cases involving child sexual abuse in relation to the guidelines, the working group's report focuses on victims, offenders, and sentencing ranges. The report also raises issues for consideration by the U.S. Sentencing Commission. Report appendixes provide additional information on child sex offense guidelines, data on criminal sexual abuse of children and offender sentences, and child sex offense case law.
