COORDINATED COMMUNITY TREATMENT PROGRAMS OFFER ALTERNATIVES TO DETENTION AND INSTITUTIONALIZATION.
Abstract
THE DEPARTMENT OF COURT SERVICES INTEGRATES THE ACTIVITIES OF NORMALLY FRAGMENTED ELEMENTS OF THE LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM INTO A COORDINATED PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM TAKES MAXIMUM ADVANTAGE OF AVAILABLE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY. THE SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE PRE-TRIAL RELEASE SCREENING, PRE-TRIAL COMMUNITY SUPERVISION, COUNTY-ADMINISTERED PROBATION, AND A COMMUNITY-CENTERED CORRECTIONS FACILITY. A BRIEF EVALUATION OF EACH IS GIVEN.
