RELEASE PERFORMANCE OF THOSE SUBJECTS REPORTED IN PHASES I AND II WHO WERE RELEASED ON PAROLE ON OR BEFORE THE END OF FISCAL YEAR 1968.
Abstract
ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO ASSESS THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PAROLE PERFORMANCE AND FACTORS OR VARIABLES THOUGHT TO BE PREDICTIVE OF VIOLATION OR NON-VIOLATION OF PAROLE. FACTORS FOUND TO BE CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH PAROLE VIOLATION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING - INSTITUTIONS FROM WHICH PAROLED, FAMILY PUBLIC ASSISTANCE RECEIVED, MENTAL LEVELS OF SUBJECTS AS DEFINED BY THE TOTAL BETA TEST SCORES AND MOVES BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS. FACTORS SUCH AS AGE AT ADMISSION, MARITAL STATUS, JUVENILE HISTORY, ALCOHOL HISTORY AND PROBATION STATUS AT TIME OF ARREST, WHICH HAVE BEEN FOUND BY OTHERS TO BE RELATED TO PAROLE SUCCESS, WERE NOT SIGNIFICANTLY ASSOCIATED WITH PAROLE SUCCESS IN THIS STUDY.
