Abstract
AFTER EXAMINING THE SYSTEM OF DRUG CLASSIFICATION AS USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF LAWS WHICH GOVERN MOST OF THE WORLD'S DRUG POLICY, THE AUTHORS ADDRESS THEMSELVES TO THE EFFECTS OF THIS POLICY ON ALMOST EVERY FAMILY, PATIENT, DOCTOR, POLICE OFFICER, EDUCATOR, AND DRUG USER. THE BOOK SHOWS HOW TO STUDY DRUG EFFECTS AND USERS, HOW TO CLASSIFY DRUGS, HOW TO LINK LEGAL CONTROLS TO CLASSIFICATION, AND HOW TO EVALUATE CLASSIFICATION IN TERMS OF IMPACT, COST, AND IMPLEMENTATION. THE AUTHORS ADVOCATE PRACTICAL INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH, PLANNING, AND ACTION FOR EXPANDED INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT AND MORE SOPHISTICATED CONTROLS. THEY SUGGEST SOME STEPS TO IMPROVE CLASSIFICATION AND CONTROL AND OFFER SOME RECOMMENDATIONS TO POLICY MAKERS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
