The National Interagency Counterdrug Institute offers a course for managers that focuses on the current and proposed use of military resources to support counterdrug operations, demand reduction activities, and the use of civilian agencies.
Abstract
The course covers tactics, procedures, and technologies that can be applied to counterdrug operations. The first two sections focus on the evolution of the national drug control strategy, drug availability, institutional responses to the need for drug interdiction and eradication, and Federal agencies involved in counterdrug activities. Subsequent sections review regional organizations involved in counterdrug activities; Department of Defense roles, missions, and capabilities with respect to drug law enforcement; the role of State agencies in counterdrug operations; and the management and integration of counterdrug intelligence. The final section details processes and procedures associated with counterdrug operations. Appendixes contain a glossary of street terms, information on domestic marijuana eradication, a point of contact directory, the counterdrug plan of the U.S. Army, a sample memorandum of understanding, an operation plan, a glossary of acronyms and terms, and a list of law enforcement 10 and 11 codes.
