Abstract
EMPHASIZED ARE SPECIFIC TYPES OF SUSPICIOUS CUSTOMER BEHAVIOR WHICH SIGNAL THAT HE OR SHE EITHER INTENDS TO SHOPLIFT AN ITEM OR HAS ALREADY. IOWA STATUTES COVERING THE DEFINITION, STANDARD OF PROOF, AND PENALTIES FOR SHOPLIFTING ARE ALSO DETAILED AND DISCUSSED. IN ADDITION, ADVICE IS GIVEN ON HOW TO MAKE AN ARREST FOR SHOPLIFTING, HOW TO QUESTION AND SEARCH SHOPLIFTERS, AND HOW TO HANDLE CONFESSIONS MADE BY A SHOPLIFTING SUSPECT.
