Abstract
THE TELEVISION INDUSTRY MAKES AVAILABLE TO GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS, SUCH AS POLICE DEPARTMENTS, AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF AIR TIME PER YEAR IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SERVICE CAUSES FUNCTIONS. THE AUTHOR CITES EXAMPLES OF POLICE DEPARTMENTS WHICH HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY AND THE SUCCESS THEY HAVE HAD. HE DISCUSSES THE IMPACT THAT THE TELEVISION REPORTER HAS ON THE PUBLIC AND RECOMMENDS COOPERATION BETWEEN POLICE DEPARTMENTS AND THE BROADCAST COMMUNITY.
