DISSERTAION REPORTS A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF GANG PARTICIPATION BY COMPARING MEN WHO HAVE HAD DIFFERING AMOUNTS AND KINDS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE GANG.
Abstract
PARTICIPATION IN GANG LIFE, ACCORDING TO THIS STUDY, CONTINUES ON FOR YEARS AFTER ADOLESENCE. SOMETIMES THIS EVEN MEANS PARTICIPATION IN THE SAME GANG, WHICH IS A PRODUCT OF THE SOCIALIZATION PROCESS OF THE GANG. ONE OF THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS MAY BE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE GANG AND THE SUBCULTURE. THIS STUDY TAKES A LOOK AT WHETHER THE GANG IS A COMMON AND EXPECTED PHENOMENON OF LOWER CLASS LIFE, OR WHETHER IT IS A RESULT OF SOME DELINQUENCY PRODUCING ETILOGICAL PROCESS OF SOCIAL PATHOLOGY....BDS
