EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM SEX EDUCATION ON A SAMPLE OF INCARCERATED JUVENILE DELINQUENTS IN THE MINNESOTA STATE TRAINING SCHOOL FOR BOYS.
Abstract
THE SEX KNOWLEDGE INVENTORY WAS USED TO MEASURE BOYS LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF HUMAN SEXUAL ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY BEFORE AND AFTER A TWO-HOUR SEX EDUCATION CLASS. THIRTYEIGHT DELINQUENTS OF THE ORIGINAL 65 TESTED WERE AVAILABLE FOR RETESTING. THE FINDINGS INDICATED THAT THIS GROUP POSSESSED A LIMITED AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE PRIOR TO THE INSTRUCTION, AND THAT THEIR KNOWLEDGE WAS IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTION. A SECTION OF THE INVENTORY SERVED AS A CONTROL IN THAT THE CONTENT WAS NOT DISCUSSED IN CLASS. NO STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT WAS MADE ON ITEMS IN THIS SECTION.
