INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT WHICH ALLOWS A CONTRACTING STATE TO PROSECUTE UNDER ITS OWN LAW PERSONS SUSPECTED OF HAVING COMMITTED A CRIMINAL OFFENSE IN ANOTHER STATE.
Abstract
THE CONVENTION IS DESIGNED TO COVER SITUATIONS WHERE EXTRADITION IS IMPRACTICAL OR IMPOSSIBLE. SEVERAL ARTICLES PROVIDE FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF JUDGMENTS MADE IN FOREIGN STATES. SAFEGUARDS AGAINST MULTIPLE PROSECUTIONS FOR A SINGLE OFFENSE ARE INCLUDED IN THE TEXT OF THE AGREEMENT. A LIST OF THE MEMBER STATES IN THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE THAT HAVE RATIFIED THE CONVENTION IS PROVIDED.
